WHAT I DIDN'T SEE TODAY
A good covering of snow in the chateau garden this morning This usually heralds the appearance of a winter thrush or two but not on this occasion
Re: WHAT I DIDN'T SEE TODAY
This topic is a good idea, Jacksparrow . My garden is full of stuff I didn't see.
Interesting thing about virgin snow early morning are the tracks which are obviously not birds. Have, I suppose, cat prints but looked for a fox with no luck. S'pose everything stayed home last night.
Reckon the snow ended about 4-ish this morning.

Re: WHAT I DIDN'T SEE TODAY
I am not seeing anything in my garden these days as I'm waiting for the date to move to a new place. I stopped feeding birds a while ago, so they can find alternative feeding places before the winter. And I believe they all did because its so quiet and lifeless here
Sorry birds
Sorry birds

Re: WHAT I DIDN'T SEE TODAY
What I didn't see today was any of the winter thrushes like Redwing and Fieldfare. Nor did any visit the garden during the recent very cold and snowy period. This is very unusual. I know they tend to migrate further west and south if the weather is bad but there are usually three or four turn up.
Re: WHAT I DIDN'T SEE TODAY
Had some redwing in the winter of 2012? was that the last really cold one we had? Not had any since.

Re: WHAT I DIDN'T SEE TODAY
I have become aware that I am seeing less of some species of bird recently. It could be the milder weather but I am wondering if the current bird flu epidemic is having some effect. The most noticable change has been the feral pigeons. I was regularly getting about a dozen or fifteen but now the maximum is eight. I know the sprawk had a couple of them and may have scared others but they usually recover from scares and return in big numbers.
The sparrows also seem fewer but less so than the ferals.

Re: WHAT I DIDN'T SEE TODAY
Am getting less ferals here, but put it down to that I only put food once a day in that feeder, so when it is gone its gone. But I am getting less starlings and the female blackbirds.

After several visits over a few day I have not seen the Buzzard for over a week.
