Hi All,

With winter upon us. I am looking for some advice regarding my bird feeding stations. I am going to replace all the feed for fresh. What would you recommend for this time of year.

Peanuts and suet pellets - fatty stuff is favourite in the bad weather.
Home-made suet/lard puddin' filled with goodies is a surefire favourite.

If you are replacing old food with fresh it would be a good opportunity to give the feeders a clean. If you have a pond try and keep it clear of dead leaves. Leave any dead leaves on the garden(but not the lawn) as they serve two purposes. Firstly they give urglies somewhere to hide and secondly somewhere for ground feeding birds to hunt for urglies. You might also consider changing your food offer to those with a higher fat content.

At the moment I have two stations. Both have suet, speed and they small black seeds. I am hopefully going to try to attract more wildlife to our garden.
