GoldfinchES

The twig by my feeders hasn't attracted too many birds! But here's one I can't resist. The Goldfinch; it's one of our prettier birds.

One of my favourite garden birds. A real dash of colour. :) Great :photo:

How come I have a regular family of goldies, but Saturday I bought them a lovely new nyger feeder and filled it with lovely fresh nyger seeds. And have not seen them since !!!

They are scared of it - it's an alien object that's landed in their territory :D

My latest count of goldies is 12+. There are loads of them and they prefer the sunflower seeds, but one or two have been on the nyjer feeder. Mainly the youngsters, probably because the grown ups kick them off the ones they want. In fact the biggest of the goldies was seen to be pecking anyone who was in his way.

I am only getting one Goldfinch per day at present. Todays was a youngster looking like it was having it's first moult.

I've suddenly been getting them over the last week or so. About 7 today.
They seem to particularly want bathtime.

Got their towels over their wing and a soap on a rope in their beaks I presume :bird2:
