Nice assortment butterfly.
Thanks Willpar, what was unusual was that they were all there at the same time. I get few other birds as well, one of which is a new regular, lovely mistle trush, Mr and Mrs great spotted woodpecker, woodpigeons, a couple of magpies ... but they come at different times, or one leaves when one comes.

Blackbirds engaged in a courtship routine in my front garden and finally mating :blackbird:  :blackbird: . There must be a nest somewhere local but I have not seen any attempts to construct one.

A male Sprawk turned up today and caught nothing. He perched rather forlornly on my back fence looking into the thick ivy on the tall wire fence just behind my garden. The ivy is usually full of sparrows awaiting a turn on my feeders or birdbaths but he was out of luck. His predecessors have also failed to notice that as soon a Sprawk is spotted they all flee out the opposite side of the ivy. I went out and disturbed his watch in the end and he flew off very casually as much as to say "I'm not frightened of you mate" :)
