For a while yesterday I thought they had all departed for Africa but towards the end of the afternoon I spotted a couple in the distance. I saw three today but I think the majority have departed. They arrived on May 5th this year which was early so perhaps they have departed a little earlier.

I was visiting a friend in Swansea today and she's got loads of swifts zooming round her garden. Lovely to watch. Sadly didn't have my camera wit me!

Doesn't sound like Swift behaviour to me. They are very much into grand sweeps through the heavens rather than zooming through gardens.

Pretty sure it's them. She's got them nesting in several places up in the eves and they sit on the phone wires and have that characteristic shape. She's in a very rural area. They were swooping round in circles.
hmm.. might be mixing them up with swallows
