WOOD PIGEONS

Post by nuthatch » Tue Aug 05, 2014 8:09 am

On Monday and yesterday about 20.15 a wood pigeon came to the empty window feeding cup three times - it's the one they usually come to in the mornings.

Last night I felt so sorry for it  that I filled it up but didn't notice if it visited again before dark.

I'm wondering if it has been having a nap and waking up thinking it was morning

I've got three. Sometimes they come individually, sometimes two together and occasionally all three together.

Drinking is fine. Don't let them bathe as they leave a scum :)

I've never seen them on the window sill in the evening before

One turned up at 20.15 on the dot again yesterday :)

A pair of Woodies have spent the day setting up home in the Ash tree in my neighbours front garden. IMO it is a far from ideal nesting site given the frequency of vehicles and pedestrians that pass right under the tree on a daily basis. If they persist I will try and get a decent picture :photo:

If they do settle in, Jacksparrow, it will be fascinating to watch their progress

Disaster :( sometime during the forenoon the wind has blown the half built nest out of the tree and onto my drive :windy:
I will be watching tomorrow to see if any attempt to rebuild .
