Hi!
Before I show the position of Bird House 2 (for the Great Tits) I'll backtrack a bit first and tell more about my ground-level balcony in general.
Back when there were plenty of Free-To-Air satellite TV stations my balcony looked like a 'teleport' full of dishes. But when this hobby faded (because everything got encrypted),
I decided to plant blackberries on my balcony instead. For this I needed an open air green house structure of sort. Well blackberries were never happy there after 5 years of trials but the 'Willamette' raspberries thrive there!

Then I was plauged by tiny green caterpillars eating holes in my leaves and nothing helped. But God sent me a whole flock of Great Tits, Blue Tits, Marsh Tits and Siberian Chiffchaffs this year! I never had birds here before and now the trees and my neighbor's Cherry Laurel bushes are full of them and they all decend upon my balcony for food, water and friendship.

The 'berry house' is also a great spot for my FM ring antenna which is isolated from ground potential up on four clear, plastic, recycled meat or chicken tubs. And it was here my first bird slept overnight totally puffed!
So I got to thinking about bird houses!

My first attempt was to lay a 5 litre plastic planter on it's side atop my 'berry house' and see if the the birds take interest in it:
They love it! It's like their 'lunch room' for cracking open sunflower seeds or taking short naps.
So I set bird house 2 up there next to it but not drilled into the wall. Now it's like a 'train station with an attached waiting room' of sorts.
Here is a shot of a very cute, fluffy Great Tit at the feeder (I bring the feeder and suet ball cage indoors at night and set back outside a half hour before sunrise).
And here is a Marsh Tit (left) and a Blue Tit (right) which coexist in peace.
