Ospreys
Re: Ospreys
Bit of activity yesterday morning. Our pair had to see of a Buzzard that was intruding at the nest. However within an hour another large Osprey (female) appeared and circled over the nest. LF15 (our female did the usual mantling and calling to no avail. After 10 minutes she took off after the intruder which after 50 minutes was chased off.
I think staff are expecting the first egg in the next few days. Have never caught egg-laying live so will need to keep watch. Knowing my luck, it will happen during the night.

Re: Ospreys
No sign of egg laying at Loch of the Lowes. Going by when all birds had arrived back, female at Loch of the Lowes should have laid 2 - 3 days ago. Maybe the early mating was not successful.
Re: Ospreys
Nothing at Loch of the Lowes yet. Last year, first egg was laid two weeks after the reunion of the pair. Last Friday was two weeks and nothing yet. Egg overdue.
Re: Ospreys
Concern at Loch of the Lowes. The male was back three days before Odin aty Loch Garten. Technically the whole clutch could have been laid by now. No sign of anything happening at the moment.
Re: Ospreys
First egg at Loch of the Lowes at 12:52 this morning. Next egg could be late Thursday or early Friday.
Re: Ospreys
Male at Loch of the Lowes just taken over for a stint of egg-sitting. Female away to get breakfast. She didn't get her breakfast in bed this morning.
