I blame their mystical powers.

He must be a youngster, Bob, and not fully equipped with the ability to completely vanish as soon as auto focus locks on!

:D I have so many photos of little owls, some up close. I'd say may be less than a handful are what I would call decent-ish. I've yet to figure out where I'm going wrong.

Not a lot wrong with that. I like the way the pupils are different sizes because one is in sunlight, and the other in shadow.

It will have been really disappointed you didn't return the call :owl: :cry2:
:rofl2: I've seen wooden flutes for calling Tits at 63 € each; maybe they also have one for Owls?
(My wife said: "No, what if you blow a Tit insult instead?"

I co-admin one fb page for this valley for the last 8 years and the founder used to use youtube to try and attract goldcrests. He gave up :) not sure if it was that he was unsuccessful or me having polite little jibes :) TBH I'm not too bad on bird calls but wouldn't have a clue what a goldcrest sounds like.

I found out quite by accident, if I play the 1953 recording of Swedish composer Alfvèn's 'Swedish Rapsody' (Midsummer Festival) as played by 'Percy Faith & his Orchester', the Great Tits and Blue Tits nesting in my neighbor's Cherry Laurels, all come flying to my balcony playfull and courious! Their second favorite is 'The Second Waltz' by Dimitri Shostakovich! 🤣🎼🎵🎶🐦🐦🐦

A local little owl today. I've not seen one at this farm before. Not as sharp an image as I'd hoped... I blame their mystical powers.
Nice find Bob. I have only seen one, managed to get a lucky photo of it as it flew by with a beetle it had caught.
