Re: BEAVERS
I was very cheered by the beaver news from Devon but that cheer was slightly dulled by the accompanying news that they have been culling them in Scotland because they were breeding too well and causing damage . I fervently hope they don't wear out their welcome in Willpar's garden.
Re: BEAVERS
Was good news indeed jacksparrow. Although i did not know about the Scotland ones were being culled. The ones in Devon did move upstream back along as there were too many visitors and dogs disturbing them. And they got into a private estate. The land owner was not pleased and put a price on their heads. Don`t know what the outcome was of that. But i think that will be a problem wherever they are located. Once they get established and breed, then some will move away.
Re: BEAVERS
A male Eurasian beaver has been released today in the Forder Valley area of Plymouth. It is a wet wooded area. Is hoped that the dams will slow the water flow downstream and help with flooding.

Re: BEAVERS
it's going to take a while for one to make a difference. I thought they usually tried to release a breeding pair
Re: BEAVERS
That`s what i thought jacksparrow. Perhaps a female will be released later. The one that was released comes from a breeding colony in Scotland.
Re: BEAVERS
An update on the Forder Valley beavers here. A female was released a few months after the male.
Another update. One of the beavers got out of the enclosure and has been killed in an RTA.
