Are you stealing the jobs of fully paid up members of The Slabbers and Layers Union (SALU) ??? A representative will be round shortly (we know where you live) to inspect your union card and sustificat of membership.

I'm a fully paid up member of POBAT( Pond Builders and Associated Trades) We respect SALU bu do not require their input either onsite or elsewhere. Trespassers will be shot on sight.

You will all be relieved to hear that the liner replacement it pretty much complete. There are a few little details to attend to but to all intents and purposes the pond has been handed back to the users.
My expectation is that it will not be so popular as a wintering site like it has in the past ten years or so but come the spring the breeders will return in their usual numbers.i.e. 30-40 frogs There are a few in it already but there is nothing for them to eat but it is easy to get out of and forage in the garden. They like the rockery and I disturbed quite few small frogs when I was was trying to lay the final slabs.
The new liner is supposed to have a 40 year life so hopefully this is the last time I will have to replace it.

Due to the pond being a little choked with vegetation things have not suited them. I only saw a couple this year but in years past there have been a dozen or so. I'm hoping the cleaned out new pond will herald a return to the glory days but they may have found alternative accommodation.

I'll wait until they return before raising the rent. I don't wan't to scare them off.

The water has taken some colour now and it is getting more difficult to see the bottom of the pond. A little duck weed has survived and is slowly expanding it's coverage although I expect to remove some with ice clearance over the winter. There is no sign of any wildlife at present which is not surprising although the other nearby pond still has frogs moving around.

A new pond over the village still has a muddy look. I wonder if it is because it continually pumping to the waterfall, and not settling.
