During a duck weed trawl today I caught a tadpole. It's state of maturity was that of one about a fortnight after emerging from the spawn. It look like it will overwinter in the tadpole state. :frog: :shake:

No tadpoles at present but the danger is that there will never be any this year. Frog spawn does not react well after it has been frozen :( For the first time since I've had spawn in my ponds I have taken steps to prevent the spawn getting frosted during this current cold snap. It is all very crude with plastic bags an old duvet and cardboard but anything is better than nothing.

I uncovered the spawn today and it appears OK. Recovered again tonight for the forecast overnight frost :(
