I reckon he or she is happy enough. They spend most of their time just sitting waiting for dinner to come past. They're more likely to get out and about during the night and look for worms on the dewy grass.

If you can post up a photo of your frog and your brilliant improvised habitat I'm sure everyone would love to see it.

I have a couple of ponds which attract the frogs especially at spawning time but only a few of them remain in the ponds when spawning has finished.
The water keeps them cooler and hides them from predators. They also prey on insects landing on the water to take a drink. The majority wander off and I occasionally disturb one hiding in the undergrowth in my garden. They love dark, dank , undisturbed places. some return to the ponds in late autumn to hibernate at the bottom of the water.

Hi Jacksparrow. As far as I can tell, have only got the one frog. One stayed in the bowl/pond all summer last year. Don't know if it's same one this year. Earlier I was watching him climbing on and off the rocks - the first time I've seen him out of the water. He's about 3" long. I feed visiting hedgehogs and they show a lot of interest in his little residence, so the rocks certainly come in handy as a hiding place.

The Hogs probably chose the frog's residence to have drink. They are not a threat to a frog that big.

That's a relief. Am hoping to post a photo but he's deep undercover at the moment.

Have tried to post photos but keep being told file too big to upload on this site and must be below 256 KiB. My file is 1.1 mb. I am using an Android platform. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
