NEWTS

Post by Jacksparrow » Fri Mar 04, 2016 8:28 pm

I was trawling the nature pond yesterday to remove Duck Weed and accidently caught two Smooth Newts. They seemed a bit lethargic which isn't surprising as the pond water is still very cold. :cold2:

First sighting of a newt this spring today. They always appear when the young Tadders strike out on their own. :)

The pondwater has only recently reached a temperature which make them active. I have seen a reduction in numbers over the last few years so I expect they are becoming harder to spot when they do appear.

Ah, yes - fewer noots = fewer noots (Law of Diminishing Probabilities). Elementary, my dear thingie .
