PESTICIDES

Post by Placido » Thu May 05, 2016 12:03 pm

This heading could go almost anywhere I s'pose but I put it under 'Gardening' simply because that's where it happens ......

This morning on R4's 'Farming Today' there was a little tiny item that the EU may be considering the reintroduction of neo-nicotinoids to kill off a pest, the name of which escapes me, which is killing the endless fields of rapeseed plants.
A farmer complained long and loud that his children were starving because neo-nics weren't being used and hooray for the far-sighted EU. At no time were bees or butterflies mentioned.
It emerged that this custodian of the earth uses glyphosate regularly but the point was not followed up by the interviewer.
So that's all right then.

38 Degrees are still on the case and are trying to get all the MPs to an "exciting event in Parliament on Monday along with Friends of the Earth"
