Like that, Nuthatch .
The 'cut the side out of a carton' is ever such a good idea .
I reckon the best way to preserve basil (MMMMMMMMMMMMMM :yummy) is to make pesto. I've never successfully grown basil but desperately wish I could. Perhaps that tip is for our Mediterranean viewers.

Have a word with your head gardener and get them to put it in the greenhouse or Orangery.Placido wrote:Like that, Nuthatch .

Such a hoot is Jacksparrow
I like that idea too, Placi - like a little window (sill) box
Re: GARDENING TIPS
I think a V8 carton would do well . Would match my colour-scheme of red, maroon, orange, black, green and white.
Re: GARDENING TIPS
Anyone ever got rid of Rose Black Spot? I believe it is a fungus. What can I use to treat the roses, they are in large pots.
Re: GARDENING TIPS
Pick the leaves off and burn them. Look up copper fungicide for roses. Think that is the stuff.

Re: GARDENING TIPS
Resist the temptation to invite Yarrow into your garden.
Yarrow is often cited as being bee friendly(which is true) but it also spreads like wildfire both by sending out creepers and self seeding. It has proved to be drought proof and has prospered in my garden while all around it have turned brown. It grows in the lawn and it grows in the border and has resisted all my attempts to curb it's progress. A dab of the weedkiller Roundup will slow it down but gets nowhere near eradicating it.
You have been warned
