Hawkweed '20 005.JPG

First hawkweed of the season is out, and a bud next to it. Much earlier than last year.
This happens to be flourishing in the back lawn  - overlooked, I'm afraid, but hey ......
I think mine are suffering from the drought. I haven't seen one anywhere near blooming. :(

Not pushing or anything ........ but today the photographed bud popped into bloom - AND whilst nattering to my next door at a carefully measured distance I noticed that there is one in bloom in her back lawn .
They are obviously spreading .

NB: The Men come tomorrow to cut the grass which has withered to a height of about 1 centimetre, but they will carefully behead the knotweeds :weep:.

Ask if they can mow around them. I'm sure they won't mind :shake: You could try bribery with a few bottle of Heather Brew. No more than that as they probably have to work for the remainder of the day.

Actually I meant "hawkweed" not "knotweed" - I have knotweed on the brain because this year it is huge and already in high bud

Knotweed 5-20 002.JPG
It iz, it iz, a knotweed - a greater spotted knotweed actually, which iz much larger than an ordinary knotweed.
To prove it, there's an oak tree behind it but it iz obliterated by the vig'rus growth of the GSK.
'Onest, it iz, it iz.
That izn't a marguerite by the side of the GSK, it's a fried egg (for scale).

'Spect it's been the cold weather but it has taken this long (see above) for a knotweed flower to actually come out. Two actually :)
