The peanut butter in the jar has gone down a lot this past week or so but I think it is a mouse that's feasting on it as I see the tiny droppings in there every morning, which I remove.
I'd love to see mousey in there

I saw mousey in the peanut butter jar yesterday morning just as it was getting light
I didn't know it was there as I take the jar out sort of side on, so as not to trample on the garden too much and there it was - a lovely sleek dark brown mouse with black beady eyes looking at me.
Just as I was about to put the jar back it jumped onto my hair and the side of my cardigan then disappeared
I was furious with myself for disturbing it and hoped it had had enough to eat.
I was seeing to the rest of the bird feeders. in and out of the house and garage a couple of times, went to the bins etc. came in and was washing the egg yolk dishes when I felt a very slight movement on my left shoulder inside my cardigan - funny - carried on - there it was again - mousey!
I went outside, grabbed the peanut butter jar, took my cardigan off and mousey scampered across the grass towards the dead leaves near where the jar goes. I could hear it moving about in them.
I don't know how I thought I was going to get it back in the jar
probably wasn't safe anyway as it was quite light by this time.
I had scraped the last of the butter forward like Willpar did so it's spread more near the opening.
No sign of mousey having been there this morning - hope he hasn't been completely traumatised

Just as well you managed to get Mousey outdoors again Nuthatch. They can be quite a trial if they get in the house.

Gosh, yes - I never thought of that, Jacksparrow - I just assumed it was outside until I felt it - more between my shoulders, when I felt it move the second time.
I couldn't believe how long it had been there
There were signs of a mouse having been in the jar again this morning

My mouse visited again last night. He's soooo teeny, can you spot him?
He looks smaller than the sturkling's mousey

That's good nuthatch. I put out a jar last week, not one taker yet.
