Had to look them up, but am almost sure that i seen two tortoiseshell butterflies today.

Small Tortoiseshells hibernate in adult form so that is very likely.

Well spotted Willpar. I am getting very few butterflies at present
I was hoping the warm weather would encourage them out.

It is now at least two weeks since I saw a butterfly in the garden. Where have they all gone?

a couple of butterflies of note today. Several small skippers and a couple of marbled whites.
