Watched a Ray Mears prog tonight. He was in East Anglia and talking to a moth expert who said that he had only ever seen one death's head hawkmoth in his life and that, yes, they do squeak when you touch them
.
I hadn't realised they were THAT rare

that's pretty good going, Greg - thing is, moths don't have the instantly recognisable colourations of butterflies so they must be harder to identify.

I have a very good book on Moths and even then I have trouble sorting out the many species
