BBC breakfast this morning had a segment on hedgehogs. Went to a carer in Somerset. Looked like there were lots of mealworms on offer. Not a good idea, can give them metabolic bone disease, brittle bones or something like that. I only give mine a very few, and in the main have switched to calci worms instead. That I mix in with other food.

This morning dawned to reveal that my Hogs had failed to empty their food bowl for the first time for a long time. I think I have about three regulars but it seems one ,at least, was a no show :(

Have around three as well. All the food is getting ate, but I had to lower the portions a bit.

A sudden collapse in numbers here. Am down to one hedgehog. The one that stayed for several weeks in the feeder has hopped it. No doubt to winter quarters. Could pick up again as it is not exactly cold yet. Fingers crossed.

That is slightly troubling news. I always regarded your house as "Hog Central" and to not have any before the cold weather has kicked in must be causing a little concern. :(

Yes jackaparrow, one can get accustomed to seeing them night in night out. But reading the post on hedgehog street, others are reporting a drop in visitors. The thinking seems to be an early hibernation. Lets hope so, though it is October after all, so perhaps it is more normal for them, and Ive not quite adjusted to that fact.

100% increase last night. Two hedgehogs. Batteries failed on one camera, so am charging them up. Don't want to miss anything.
