Nothing like putting ones hand in a feeder and meeting with a wall of prickles. Happens now and again just like tonight. Especially now it is dark.

I am not entirely convinced that my Hogs are going to take to the granular food I bought for them :( But the good news is that my sparrows seem to like it. Today they have been crumbing it and cleared a fair bit out of the bowl. :)

Not exactly what you wanted Jacksparrow, but at least it is not going to waste.

Been cutting down on the food for the past few weeks. Two feeders I don't put any food in at all as they were not being used. Just putting food out by the front door now. Only seeing a single hedgehog, so rest probably gone into hibernation.

I have not seen two hogs together but I still get the impression more than one is still visiting. With the upcoming milder weather it may be a while before the need to hibernate arrives.

Just seeing the odd hedgehog now, but not stopping for food. Been like that for the past few weeks, so looks like my season is all but over. I still put out door cam just in case. Get a little wood mouse come by now and again.

I was down to one a couple of weeks ago. I was still able to put a few dried mealworms in the bowl but when they were finished the hog stopped coming. :(

Here are the numbers for 2018 Hedgehog season. Hogs marked.

Adults 14

Juveniles 05

Slightly down on last year. Started off well, then kind of went pear shaped.
