All summer (?) long I have been watching a plant growing in the container heretofore singularly occupied by my climbing hydrangea. Today the bud has begun to pop and, yes, it's a sunflower :eek: . Dropped by a bird from the lunch table I s'pose.
It's not big, only about 2.5 ft and the stem is somewhat misshapen. Fine by me though, I encourage anything to grow :D . Very pleased.

I found out there's a sunflower field just down the road so I went for a quick look today.

They're a little bit past their best but not too bad...
