I think that is less than I have come to expect but I think there were fewer frogs than last year.

There was a female Blackbird collecting nest material today. She flew off into a neighbour's conifer.

It looks like the peak of the spawning has passed. We have about 6 different blobs of spawn and the number of visible frogs has decreased.

Much earlier than last year(10th March) we had our first spawn this morning.

Frog count this morning was 14.

Frogs have started to arrive for spawning. Only a couple at present but if this mild weather continues it will ramp up quickly.

The old hazel has now gone. The birds do not seem to be bothered about it's absence.

I have had a hazel tree in my garden for about 30 years. I bought it as a sapling and have been trying to stop it taking over the garden ever since. It has produced masses of nuts and the catkins have ben very attractive. You have to keep it pruned but it quickly recovers and comes back even bigger ...
