Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs

I saw few hedgehogs run over on the roads last few days :( , they mist be juveniles who have struggled to find food and could not go into hibernation yet. So desperately sad :weep:

Re: Feral Pigeons

I heard these tiny squeaky voices coming from pigeon's nests near the high street today, in this freezing cold weather :faint: . Poor little ones must be feeling this cold more than the others. You have to give it to them, they are such a tough birds

Re: CATS

Just seen this, should have been NOT welcome in the garden, but they do scarper as soon as they see me. Lady across the road that moved in around three years ago has got two of them. Did notice that one has a bell, but not sure about the other one. But they are getting the message when they see me....

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

Robins are considered to be the most friendly garden visitors, but my blue tits are becoming a serious contender for that title this year :fence: It started recently, with a bluey staying still in the shrub while I'm putting the food out, as long as I'm far away enough, and than when I get closer fl...

Re: SPARROWHAWK

Poor pigeon, RIP :( . Sparrowhawks are never seen in the act, or very very rarely, I assume because they are so fast and hard to detect before its too late.
That story about avian flu at a Dumfriesshire wildlife centre is so sad :( .

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

I tent to agree with that JS, colder weather is bringing more birds to my garden too. I have collared doves, stock doves, wood pigeons, GSWs , blue/great tits, some sparrows, starlings, robin (very gentle soul 😊 ) and just today a lovely little wren showed up  . It always puzzles me why they a...

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

I had a visit from a young female Sparrowhawk this morning. She had grabbed a Collared Dove from out of my neighbours tree(I think) and was devouring it on top of my garden wall. I have some photos which I will post later. I love Collared Doves, RIP sweet thing :( . I know, I know, Sparrowhawks hav...

My garden has never been a permanent home for Coal Tits and they are irregular visitors. I have one at the moment who is busily reducing the SFHs one by one. :)
That's wonderful JS  , they are super sweet birds
