Re: SPARROWHAWK

Poor pigeon, RIP :( . Sparrowhawks are never seen in the act, or very very rarely, I assume because they are so fast and hard to detect before its too late.
That story about avian flu at a Dumfriesshire wildlife centre is so sad :( .

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

I tent to agree with that JS, colder weather is bringing more birds to my garden too. I have collared doves, stock doves, wood pigeons, GSWs , blue/great tits, some sparrows, starlings, robin (very gentle soul 😊 ) and just today a lovely little wren showed up  . It always puzzles me why they a...

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

I had a visit from a young female Sparrowhawk this morning. She had grabbed a Collared Dove from out of my neighbours tree(I think) and was devouring it on top of my garden wall. I have some photos which I will post later. I love Collared Doves, RIP sweet thing :( . I know, I know, Sparrowhawks hav...

My garden has never been a permanent home for Coal Tits and they are irregular visitors. I have one at the moment who is busily reducing the SFHs one by one. :)
That's wonderful JS  , they are super sweet birds

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

I saw two Woodies in my neighbours garden this morning but they didn't fence hop to mine :( I have no clue as to why I'm off the flight plan as up until now they have been a permanent fixture on my daily list. Maybe something scared them off? So much happens behind our back in our gardens :...

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

I have plenty of wood pigeons, including young ones  , also collared doves  . Regulars are a couple of GSW as well. I have starlings visiting, but in smaller numbers and not every day, which is unusual  , there is few blue tits and also great tits as well, and a small flock of spar...

Walter the one-legged pigeon was around today. He seems to have joined up with a small flock of 4 or 5 other ferals rather than attending alone.
That's wonderful news Jack, Walter is special :hug2:

Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs

Pretty sure i have some late brood hoglets coming in for food. Don`t seem to be all that big. Do you watch them to see if they need any help Willpar? If they are strong enough to hibernate? I know that a wildlife rescue who deal with hogs say that this year they are having quite a lot of admissions...
