Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

Always gonna happen Jacksparra. Look forward to the day when there is treatment for trico other than cleaning down every time. Sincere best wishes with your battle against this disease. Have set up a feeding station where Hoppie the Magpie roosted the last couple of nights. The bird made the most of...

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

Gutted for you Jacksparra. Did good to clean everything, but suspect that the problem lies beyond your garden. I've had a very poorly Magpie that has been visiting my garden for a few weeks now (wasn't poorly when first turned up). Clearly infested with all sorts of things. Have cleaned the feeders ...

Re: STARLINGS

For the last couple of days I have been getting Sturklets showing signs of moulting into their spotty uniform. :) Noticed that too Jacksparra. A month ahead of schedule in the garden, but nice to see. Most at the hospital are light brown but there is one that is black. Never seen that before. :)

Re: STARLINGS

I second Jacksparrow's slightly amazed plaudits, Bikey . It restores one's faith in the human thingy to know that someone will generously and willingly dish out care and protection to creatures only slightly in more need than he himself . I would send a donation but the lock on my wee...

Re: STARLINGS

I am inclined to think that the latest arrival of Sturklets is late nesters rather than second time around but that is based on no good evidence. :) Well done Biker for helping out at your local wildlife hospital. I would think it is a combination of hard work and great satisfaction. C...

Re: STARLINGS

 Turning up the volume of anything works well Jacksparra!! :D Always thought that two waves of Sturklets was unusual because of what the professionals have been saying for many years (only one breeding season for UK Sturklings). I've been volunteering at a wildlife hospital for a while now and ...

Re: STARLINGS

:D Ooooh! Clever disguise that!!! No need to worry placi, Napoleurk Solo only reports back to Sturking HQ. Was probably attracted by mealworms, fresh water or me'be Dairylea triangles and HB (you're not putting out Dairylea triangles and HB are you????.....). The one to watch out for is Illyurk Kury...

Re: STARLINGS

:shake: Naa Jacksparra. She is a special agent (Napoleurk Solo). They cover their spots with blackberry juice (so they don't - usually - get spotted) and travel from garden to garden checking out food availability. She will be reporting back to HQ in about a month and then Placi is likely to get a v...
