Re: WOOD PIGEONS

The record for the number of Wood Pigeons in my garden stood at 10. Last Thursday the record went up to 11. When I did the RSPB bird count on Sunday the count was 0.

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....

There are Little Egrets on my local river about half a mile from where I stay. Usually see them perching on trees on the river bank.

Re: GOLDFINCHES

Have plenty Goldfinches and as much as seven young one at a time. Not sure if they are from one brood or several.

Re: Ospreys

Looks like all Ospreys (adults and chick) are gone on their migration. Nothing to be seen. Roll on March 2024.

Re: Ospreys

Yes a good year - Number chicks fledged from nests (3 with cams and 1 without) I am monitoring.

Threave (no cam) - 4
Poole Harbour - 3
Loch Arkaig - 1
Loch of the Lowes - 2

Re: Ospreys

All nests empty at the moment. One on the chicks had been feeding at Poole Harbour.

Re: Ospreys

Poole Harbour - One chick away for a wee fly-around and another chick 'helicoptering' high above the nest.

Re: Ospreys

Don't think Poole Harbour chick have fledged. There is a lot of wing flappping and jumping over the cup of the nest. Won't be too long before one takes to the air.

Re: Ospreys

I take it both chicks must be airborne at Loch of the Lowes. No chick sare on the nest at the moment.
