Re: BIRD FEEDING

That's a nice one but doesn't fit where I have mine. I'm in a flat and there's a sort of architectural bar outside the window that I can hang a feeder on so I'm a bit limited by space. The only ones I can really use are the tube seed feeders and standard nut ones. That jamjar one might work ok but I...

Re: BIRD FEEDING

I guess the disadvantage of those jamjar feeders is the food. You're kind of tied in to getting those jars whereas with a regular feeder I tended to mix in wild seed, suet, meal worms and even left over bran flake 'dust' from the bottom of the packet :)

Re: BIRD FEEDING

grrrr My tube seed feeder just fell off, dropped one floor down and broke right after I'd filled it up. Probably my fault. I don't think the blueies have worked out how to undo knots! Oh well, the blackbirds will have a feast as they don't come and visit the feeders. The blue tits look a bit confuse...

Re: BIRD FEEDING

haha :) Used to be an old hospital. It was converted in to apartments 20 years ago. When you mix up the feeds it's actually interesting to see what the food preference is. The suet goes first, then the sunflower seeds and the nuts last. It's amazing how they know which one gives them the most energy...

Re: POND LINER

Nice one.

The mud is all the droppings from frogs etc, dead insects and leaves/plant material all falling to the bottom. 20 years of biological detritus :) .

Re: BIRD FEEDING

As it's wet and horrible outside I thought I'd give the birdies a bit of a stripy treat today

Re: Blue Tits

Probably a mite. I see them quite a lot on my feeders.

Speaking of which, my first bluey fledglings have turned up today :)

Re: POND LINER

Can you dig a new one elsewhere, new shape and layout (I seem to remember the RSPB have a pond building guide) and then transfer the wildlife over? Then fill in the old one.
