Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
Wilpar, So sorry to hear about your poor little hedgie that was run over just as it's weight was getting right for hibernation. I posted in November that I had taken a very tiny hedgie to Lower Moss wood (My local animal sanctuary). It was just 217 g and they took it in to over winter it. There didn...

Re: WHAT I SAW TODAY.....
Lovely picture Mike! Very clear and in focus!! I have had a new visitor to my garden. I have had a Gold Crest. Many of you may have these on a regular basis, but until this week I have never seen one in my garden. Also I have had 2 Sparrows - a male and a female. They are new to my garden too. I hav...

Re: WOOD PIGEONS
Hi! Yes it is a young looking Woodie. I had thought it was a Feral when I first saw it crouched in the garden. I thought it was one of those Dove / Feral cross breeds. It was only when I rescued it from the pond that I realised it was a Woodie. I just hope it wasn't that juvenille I photographed in ...

Re: WOOD PIGEONS
I just hope it is not this little woodie which I photographed on 21/9/15 in my garden. It looks quite young as it's white collar isn't quite complete, although that might look like that due to it's attack!

Re: WOOD PIGEONS
Yesterday heralded another visit to Lower Moss Wood, my local animal sanctuary. I opened my kitchen blinds to find a Wood Pigeon crouched at the edge of the garden. It didn't move when I opened the blinds, and only tried to fly off when I opened the door to take the food out. I then noticed a massiv...

Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
That is a very good idea Wilpar. Have you weighed your small hedgies? Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I have been spending a lot of time at my parents' house, as they both have dementia and I have had to work my shifts too! On Tuesday 3/11 I went round to my friend's house about lunchtime a...

Re: BLACKBIRDS
Thank you - maybe it is the unfamiliar bird, that is the answer, as the food the Jay takes is all peanuts - either in shells or otherwise and the Blackbird doesn't eat peanuts!!
Re: ROBINS
Thank you, I have been bitten once before by some people butchering my fir tree in the front garden many years ago. They cut all the branches off on the road side and left the bare trunk visible, and then pushed all the cut off bits back into the tree so it looked neat and fine. I didn't notice a pr...

Re: BLACKBIRDS
I have a question to ask!! Has anyone any idea why the blackbird in my friend's garden is constantly warning the Jay off when it appears in the garden? The Jay just goes to the nut feeder or collects nuts in shells from a ground feeder table and seems quite harmless, but every time it appears the bl...
