Re: STARLINGS

Egg, son of Eddie, has already learned how to get in the caged feeder, and through the wooden bars of the little 'house' which are intended for only sparrows. Only Eddie has ever done this until now. He must be so proud!

Re: STARLINGS

Yes they leave us to babysit in the garden sometimes, but they always seem to have company - the in-laws would come over for raisins, and the adults & youngsters would all have a big celebratory bath.

Re: DRAGONFLIES

Yes I found that too, sometimes you can't see their subtle colours unless they land either. They're pretty magnificent though aren't they?

3 new babies now, open mouthed on the lawn, demanding raisins and whatever sweet sweet wriggly things they might get.

Re: STARLINGS

Haha, yes they must! Our ones took a lot of oregano for the nest, I don't know if they took it for the antibacterial properties, or just because it's soft and twiggy, but the nest would have smelled lovely for a day. :D

Thanks butterfly, it's a possibility! Although he's a very uniform colour, and totally 'wood pigeon' from the neck up.
I've emailed the RSPB but they're so busy, I don't expect a fast response.
My dad's got a totally white (not albino) feral who comes for feed, he's gorgeous!

Seen a dragonfly whilst out this morning. A golden ring one by the looks of it.
Nice! I'm going to have to look that one up though. We get the occasional couple in summer - the big blue/green ones, I can never remember what they're called either!

Re: BLACKBIRDS

The blackbirds here seem to like to try various baths - we have a large bowl pond and a big pot with yellow flag in, as well as the bird baths. This year I put a little solar fountain in the pond near the edge, as some of the sparrows go in there. They've ignored it so far, but one of the female bla...
